How does one describe complex input or output variables for devices? For example, an array of data for multiple wavelengths?

At one level, we are just trying to capture the different instances of variables output or input by the device, so a full description may not be critical at first. Proposed approach: Just use a variable name that is reasonable descriptive for now.
Possibly we should add this direction to the instructions page, if it is agreeable.
